My Work

The technique I use to hand build my containers is slab construction. I use found objects to stamp patterns into the clay's surface as well as carve relief and appliqué forms onto the clay's surfaces. My glazing technique involves burnishing, washing, and staining the bisque pieces. I layer color to create vibrant contrast and sponge off color to create soft weathered finishes.

Philosophy

My work is a continuous exploration of the ways that common objects interact with clay. I am intrigued by the limitless possibilities of incorporating aspects of found objects onto ceramic surfaces giving these forms new life. My ceramics present lively rich surfaces that are carved, pressed and patterned. These vessels reflect my fascination with the history of art and architecture. The combination of patterns, textures and glaze finishes on a my pieces suggest they might have been recently unearthed and reinvented.

Shipping and packaging is estimated on a per piece basis and is not included in the initial quoted price.
